:: Lessons

I am comfortable teaching most ages and abilities and do my best to custom tailor my lessons to each student. I have taught kids from the age of three all the way to retired adults in their seventies and most ages in between. I do my best to focus on what students want to learn and I am more than happy to work with beginners of all ages.

Plenty of people are inspired to play instruments by video game play and I would be happy to help you translate your interest in music into real playing skills and also to steer you toward practice that will help you meet your personal drumming goals. If the student is interested in learning drums more for fun or to play in popular type of band type of situations, I am happy to focus on the techniques necessary and skills needed to play in a band situation.

I have also worked with students whose focus is more on the side of serious drum and percussion study. Along with many years of playing popular drum kit, I have a B.A. Degree in Percussion Education and spent my school years playing in all sorts of groups including marching band; concert band; orchestra; new music ensemble; and percussion ensemble. I have done my best to prepare students for auditions and meet entrance requirements to attend music schools of all sorts and to play in varied school music groups. Many of my junior high and high school aged students also participate in their school music programs and I happy to help with their school music along with coaching them on the drum kit.

Along with the many students that play in various band situations, I have had students accepted into the music department of SOTA (School of the Arts High School, San Francisco) and the Dick Grove Music School (Los Angeles Music Trade School) and those that have gone on to attend San Francisco State on Music Scholarships and tour with the Paul Green’s School of Rock’s All-Stars. I am happy to say that I have had more than a few students continue their drum/percussion studies for many years and to go on to play in all sorts of musical situations.

I teach Monday through Friday at Francisco Studios, in the Excelsior District of San Francisco. My studio is close to San Francisco City College - one block from the Balboa Park BART/Muni Station and right off of the 280 FWY at the Ocean/Geneva Exit.

Most of my students have a weekly appointment, but I am open to other arrangements as well. It is difficult for me to hold a time slot, unless it's a weekly appointment. During "off peak" times scheduling is easier – usually early daytime. My most popular times are between 4 - 8 pm, and most days I am available for lessons from around noon – 8pm.

Please send me an e-mail for current rates and/or if you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment for a lesson.
