>>>>Heres
a description of Fill Workbook:
The purpose of "Fill Workbook" is to expand the players
fill vocabulary by helping drummers create short fills. This is
a flexible workbook that can be used by beginning and intermediate
students and the more advanced drummer. Most playing situations
are more about performing songs than solos, and usually this consists
of not only playing grooves, but also of cuing the band into the
various sections as they change. This is a tool to help the drummer
break away from the "old favorites" and find new ways
of playing short fills. The examples in "Fill Workbook"
are meant to by used as a starting point to initiate ideas and are
written for a basic drum kit set-up. The book can be easily modified
by the teacher or player to suit the individual drummers level
and to suit varying drum kit set ups. The accompanying CD contains
35 examples of 1/ 2 beat, 1 beat and 2 beat fills. The first 2 sections
of the book are demonstrated as written. "Fill Workbook"
(MB99966BCD) is available from music retailers or via phone from
Mel Bay. Mel Bay is on the web at www.melbay.com
>>>>CD "Unexpected" Erika Luckett
The CD by Erika Luckett, "Unexpected"
features Dawn Richardson playing and programming drums and percussion
is available on Birdfish Records. Her music was recorded
at Fantasy Studios and produced by Jeffery Wood www.jefferywood.com.
Erikas CD release gig at the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley
was well attended. Dawn joined Erika along with Paul Olguin on
bass,
Michaelle Goerlitz on percussion and Julie Wolf on keys & all
sorts of other stuff (www.juliewolf.com)
for a groovin show February 25.
Erikas music defies easy categorization
and captures a delicious blend of cultures. Part blues, part funk,
part latin, part folkpop...this is intelligent music that reaches
the heart. Born in Mexico and raised in Venezuela and Brazil - crossing
boundaries comes easily to Erika. As a teenager she made her way
to France, playing in the subways where her own concoction of Folk/Latin/Jazz/Pop
echoed in the underground. After France, the multi-lingual Luckett
made her way to the Berklee School of Music where she earned a degree
in film scoring. In 1999 she leapt into the world of solo singer/songwriters
and has since established her presence across the country, performing
over 150 shows a year and releasing three albums previously which
have earned awards and wide spread accolades. "Unexpected"
is available through www.erikaluckett.com
or www.cdbaby.com
>>>>"School
of Rock" Day Camp - 2005

of Rock" camp sessions. The camp director is Grammy nominated
singer/songwriter and Bay Area resident Bonnie Hayes (www.bonniehayes.com).
There are camp sessions for pre-teens and teens and a girls
camp. You can get more information at www.bluebearmusic.org
or by calling (415) 673-3600. Last year was the first year
and it was really fun. Each camp session we work on a set of music
during the week and put on a show that Friday night! Cool!
