Dawn Richardson likes to make noise – as many ways as she can. A drummer since the age of 13, she perhaps best known for her work as a member of the rock band 4 Non Blondes. She received a Platinum Record for sales in the United States, along with thirteen Gold and nine Platinum singles for international sales for the album "Bigger, Better, Faster, More!" and the single "What’s Up". The band also appeared on television shows including The Late Show with Conan O’Brien, Late Night with David Letterman, the Billboard Music Awards and England’s Top of the Pops. They were also featured on various soundtrack and tribute albums, including "Wayne’s World II", "Airheads" and "Encomium" (a tribute to Led Zeppelin).

Dawn has also toured and/or recorded with Almo Recording Artists Gus and Angel Corpus Christi, The Loud Family (Alias Records), The Martinis (featuring Joey Santiago of the Pixies), Holly Vincent, Penelope Houston, composer/guitarist Joe Gore, Tonight Show percussionist/vocalist Vicki Randle, Kindness, Go Go Market (featuring Chuck Prophet) and Lillix (Maverick Records).

Her recent interest has evolved to include composition for film and video. Dawn’s music has been featured in films by San Francisco based filmakers Marla Leech ("It’s a Boy" - 2001) and Monica Lam ("The Program in Human Biology at Stanford" – 2001), Giovanna Chesler ("Beauteous" – 2002) and Shelley Doty and G.B. Hajim ("Strange Frame" – 2002). She has also composed and edited works for live performance, including various works for Gregangelo’s Velocity Circus Troupe. Dawn continues to perform and record with various projects including Blame Sally, Kitty Rose and Firefly.

She has not only appeared several times in both Drum! And Modern Drummer magazines, but was also guest editor and contibuting writer of the Nov/Dec 2000 issue of Drum! devoted to female drummers. Her first drum instruction book, "Building Blocks of Rock", was published by Mel Bay publications in 1998. Dawn currently teaches privately in San Francisco. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in percussion from Cal State Los Angeles and has studied compostion privately in San Francisco.
